Apoena Biotech

Bioprospecting Projects

Floresta Amazônica, Fernando de Noronha & Caatinga

Bioprospecting is one of Apoena Biotech’s strategic pillars and the starting point for the development of our biotechnological solutions. It is through this that we access the potential of Brazilian biodiversity to identify microorganisms, metabolites, and natural compounds with the capacity for application in the agricultural and biocare markets.

Our expeditions are conducted by multidisciplinary teams and structured under rigorous technical, scientific, and regulatory criteria. We operate in Brazilian biomes of high ecological relevance, such as the Amazon, Caatinga, and Fernando de Noronha, seeking environments with unique conditions for microbial adaptation, competition, and survival.

Today, Apoena possesses hundreds of mapped and characterized strains, forming a biotechnological asset that supports the development of new solutions for agriculture, personal care, and applied biotechnology. This bank allows for accelerated research, targeted innovation projects, and the creation of technologies with real market differentiation.

All of Apoena’s bioprospecting activities are conducted responsibly and in line with Brazilian legal and environmental requirements. Expeditions are carried out with authorization from the competent authorities, respecting criteria of traceability, conservation, and sustainable use of biodiversity. We believe that innovation and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand, especially when we talk about Brazil’s biological heritage.
